What happens if you buy a used remote that was not unlocked / reflashed?
Unfortunately Volvo developed a technology in some of their key fobs that makes it impossible to re-program the Volvo key fob to another vehicle unless the key fob remote has been erased or flashed. Once the key fob is programmed to a vehicle, it can only be re-programmed to that vehicle unless an erase or flash service is done. We ONLY sell these Volvo remotes that have been cleared for you.

Please Note: The key is pre-owned and cut and will need to be REPLACED with a new key cut to fit your vehicle's ignition.
Immobilizer (start inhibitor)
Each of the keys supplied with your vehicle contains a coded transponder. The code in the key is transmitted to an antenna in the ignition slot where it is compared to the code stored in the start inhibitor module. The vehicle will start only with a properly coded key. If you misplace a key, take the other keys to a trained and qualified Volvo service technician for reprogramming as an antitheft measure.

Please note NO BAR CODE INCLUDED WITH THIS PURCHASE - Simply re-furbished & Unlocked with a new key - please contact your local qualified automotive locksmith prior to purchase to be sure they can re-program this remote to your vehicle.
3 Steps:
1. You will need to have the key cut by a qualified automotive locksmith to match your vehicle's ignition
2. You will need to have the remote programmed by a qualified automotive locksmith to your vehicle's installed RKE system.
3. You will need to have the transponder chip programmed by a qualified automotive locksmith to sync with your vehicle's immobilizer to start your engine.
